Liberalization of visas with the EU/ Meta: We are happy for the European integration of Kosovo

The Chairman of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, has congratulated Kosovo on the decision taken today (March 9, 2023) by the Interior Ministers of the 27 countries of the European Union to liberalize visas. Through a post on Facebook, Meta writes that Kosovo today is the right example, which Albania should also follow, to take steps towards improving democracy and the functioning of the rule of law.
“Today we congratulate Kosovo because the ministers of the European Union voted unanimously to liberalize visas. But the European ministers should also be happy that they have the opportunity to approach a country with high democratic parameters, like Kosovo! We are all happy with the democratic developments and the European integration of our Kosovo. This is evidenced by the extraordinary progress in the fight against corruption and organized crime, according to Freedom House and Transparency International. Today, Kosovo is the right example, which Albania should also follow, to take steps towards improving democracy and the functioning of the rule of law”!, writes Meta.
The Interior Ministers of the 27 countries of the European Union approved the decision to liberalize visas for Kosovo at the meeting of the Council of Internal Affairs in Brussels. According to this decision, the starting date of visa liberalization for Kosovo citizens will be the time when the travel authorization and verification system (ETIAS) is fully operational, or no later than January 1, 2024.
