The Minister of Culture, Elva Margariti, met today with her counterpart from North Macedonia, Bisera Kostadinovska Stojchevska. The meeting, which took place at the premises of the Ministry of Culture, preceded the official ceremony for the handover of 20 icons.

“We discussed with Bisera Kostadinovska Stojchevska the enhancement of cooperation between our two countries in cultural affairs, heritage preservation, and the unwavering efforts to combat the illegal trafficking of our cultural treasures,” Minister Margariti posted on social media.

A ceremony is anticipated to occur in the lobby of the National Historical Museum (NHM), where 20 religious artifacts (icons), confiscated in 2013, will be officially returned to the Government of North Macedonia. Both ministers are scheduled to attend the ceremony at the NHM.
