105 years ago, Marie Logoreci was born, one of the pioneers of Albanian cinema.

She showed her artistic talent early, performing in school plays and excelling in music. In 1945, she began singing on Radio Tirana. Her repertoire grew through concerts at home and abroad.

In 1947, she debuted on the People’s Theater stage as Elmira in Molière’s comedy “Tartuffe.”

She first appeared on film in “Skënderbeu,” then in Albania’s first short feature “Fëmijët e saj,” and later in the first full-length Albanian feature, “Tana.”

Her most celebrated roles include Xhesi in “Çështja ruse,” Alisa Lengton in “Rrënjë të thella,” Kristina Padera in “Komploti i të dënuarve,” Fatimja in “Halili dhe Hajrija,” Aljona Patrovna in “Gjashtë dashnorët,” Lokja in “Toka jonë,” Gertruda in “Hamleti,” Bernarda Alba in “Shtëpia e Bernarda Albës,” and Gjela in “Përmbytja e madhe.”

Marie Logoreci passed away at 66 from a heart attack. She received numerous awards and honors, including “People’s Artist,” “Merited Artist,” and “Honor of the Nation.”
