European Commissioner for Democracy, Justice, the Rule of Law and Consumer Protection Michael McGrath has joined the EU Delegation in Albania’s campaign to raise awareness of consumer rights.

McGrath said Albanian consumers deserve the same protections as consumers across the European Union. He called for stronger consumer protection rules, safer food, transparent prices and refunds or replacements for defective products. He also stressed that EU rules would protect Albania’s culinary heritage by safeguarding authentic local products against imitations.

Meanwhile, the EU Delegation in Albania announced plans to share practical guidance on consumer rights in the coming weeks. The campaign will cover food safety, online shopping and financial services, highlighting how EU integration can strengthen everyday consumer protection through safer products, clear prices and fair treatment.
