Memorandum of Understanding between the National Gallery of Arts and the National Museum of 21st Century Arts in Rome

The National Gallery of Arts of Albania and MAXXI, the National Museum of 21st Century Arts in Rome, signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen cultural cooperation between the two countries.
Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports Blendi Gonxhja signed the agreement in Rome during the first joint meeting of the Albanian and Italian governments.
In a social media post, Minister Gonxhja said the partnership will support the reopening of the National Gallery of Arts in Tirana next year. He said the collaboration will boost the gallery’s cultural and international mission.
“MAXXI will be a strategic partner,” Gonxhja said. “It will help modernize institutions, train museum professionals, and develop joint cultural and research programs.”
The three-year project (2025–2028) aims to turn culture into a bridge of dialogue, development, and friendship between Albania and Italy, the minister added.
Albania and Italy held their first intergovernmental summit today in Rome as part of their strategic partnership, where they signed 15 agreements and memoranda.
