Meta meets Kurti in Kosovo,: Regional cooperation only through initiatives like the Berlin Process

President Ilir Meta was received today by the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti. Mr. Meta shared photos of the meeting he had with Kurti, opposing once again the “Open Balkans” initiative, wrining that regional cooperation should only be done through comprehensive initiatives, such as the Berlin Process.
“I was warmly received by the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, with whom I had the pleasure of having a very fruitful conversation. Appreciating the fraternal relations between our countries and the tremendous potential for their strengthening, I emphasized the importance of the efficient concretization of the signed intergovernmental agreements. It is vital to implement joint projects that bring our citizens even closer, such as the construction of the Durrës-Prishtina railway, having an impact on the economy of both countries and the region, uniting us more and stopping the demographic hemorrhage that has affected us. More coordination is also needed in foreign and regional policy, in accordance with the common goal of membership in the European Union. As regards the regional cooperation, we shared the same assessment in support of only comprehensive initiatives, such as the Berlin Process. Kosovo has become an example of democracy, of the fight against crime and corruption, the rule of law and Europeanization in the region, also evaluated by international reports, which deserves the liberalization of visas for its citizens as soon as possible”, writes Meta.
President Meta’s mandate ends on Sunday 24th, where the new President, Bajram Begaj, will be sworn in on the same day.
