Mihal Grameno (1871–1931), a distinguished Albanian patriot, writer, and activist, was born in Korçë and later became a key figure in Albania’s national movement. After emigrating to Bucharest, he joined the patriotic society “Drita” and, in 1907, became part of Çerçiz Topulli’s band, fighting for national liberation.

Grameno participated in the Congress of Manastir in 1909 and later lived in the United States, where he supported the Albanian diaspora’s efforts for independence. A pioneer of Albanian literature, he authored works such as “Oxhaku”, “E puthura”, and “Varri i Pagëzimit”. His plays, including “Mallkimi i gjuhës shqipe” and “Vdekja e Pirros”, reflect his patriotic spirit. He also led influential newspapers like “Lidhja orthodhokse” and “Koha”.

Grameno’s legacy as a tireless advocate for Albania’s freedom and culture remains significant. He passed away in February 1931 in his hometown of Korçë.
