Mimika Luca was born on 24 December 1937 in Gjirokastër. She spent her childhood in an orphanage. She began her artistic career in 1951 with solo performances on the stage of the Opera and Ballet House of Tirana as a ballet dancer. In 1962, she joined the People’s Theater (present-day National Theater), where she performed as an actress. She played 30 roles on the national stage. From 1977, she taught students at the Drama Chair of the Academy of Arts in Tirana.

Mimika Luca made her big screen debut in 1963 in the movie ‘Detyre e Posaçme’ /Special Assignment/. After that, she starred in 14 other feature movies, seven of which were the main roles.

Mimika Luca, the great actress of the Albanian stage, remains unforgotten and the artistic legacy she left continues to be appreciated. Recently, she was awarded with the title “Honorary Citizen” of Përmet.

Mimika Luca is regarded as a multidimensional actress in theater and cinema. During her career, she played about 30 roles. Among her best performances was the drama “Drita”, which the actress wrote herself.

The icon of Albanian cinematography, Mimika Luca, passed away at the age of 86, on February 23, 2023.
