The Municipality of Durrës approved the decision to award the title of “Honorary Citizen” to the well-known actor of Albanian theater and cinema, Mirush Kabashi, posthumously.

The news was given by the Mayor of Durrës, Emiriana Sako, through a post on social networks.

The ceremony of awarding the title to the actor Mirushin Kabashi will be organized under the auspices of the mayor Sako.

The ceremony will take place in the “Aleksandër Moisiu” Theater hall in Durrës. The last interview of the great actor Mirush Kabashi will also be shown during this ceremony, a story about life on the stage of the Theater and more.

The well-known actor of Albanian theater and cinema, Mirush Kabashi passed away on December 5, 2023 at the age of 75.

Mirush Kabashi was born on April 17, 1948 in Shkodër, but grew up in Durrës. His origin was from Gjakova. Kabashi has been described as one of the greatest interpreters of poetry in Albania. He has made a great contribution to the Albanian cinema, while there are about 100 roles of him in theater and movies.

At the 1989 National Festival of Professional Theaters, Kabashi was awarded as the “Best Actor” in the role of Sadush Neziri in the comedy “The Shadow of the Other” by Ruzhdi Pulaha. At the Balkan Theater Festival held in Corinth, Greece, he was rated as one of the best actors with this role. In 2002, he won the “Best Actor” award as a protagonist at the “Apollon 2002” Acting Festival.

In 1997, in the ninth edition of the Experimental Theater Festival organized in Cairo, Egypt, Mirush Kabashi was awarded the “Golden Sphinx”, as the most successful performer among one thousand participating actors from forty-six countries of the world.

Kabashi has been awarded the titles “Honour of the Nation”, “Merited Artist” and “Great Master of Work”.
