Today, the National Historical Museum of Albania paid tribute to Justin Godart, a prominent French politician, progressive thinker, and steadfast friend of Albania. Godart, who served as a deputy and minister during World War I, was a vocal advocate for the protection of Albanian rights on the international stage.

He visited Albania several times, first in 1921, after championing the national rights of Albanians, which were overlooked by the victorious Great Powers and neighboring Balkan states. His final visit was in 1950 when he was named honorary president of the France-Albania Friendship Association.

Godart authored two books on Albania, L’Albanie en 1921 and L’Albanie en 1922, both published in Paris in 1922, in which he expressed his support for the democratic aspirations of the Albanian people. He did not live to complete his third book, Albania in 1950. Godart was posthumously awarded the “Order of Liberty” Class I and passed away on December 12, 1956.
