NATO Summit – Hasani: Albania Plans to Allocate 5% of GDP for Defense and Security by 2035

Foreign Minister Igli Hasani took part in the NATO Summit held in The Hague. After the summit wrapped up, he shared key messages on social media.

Hasani confirmed Albania’s unwavering commitment to NATO. He highlighted the country’s continuous political and operational contribution to the Alliance’s collective security.

According to him, Albania aims to allocate 5% of its GDP annually for defense and security by 2035. This goal marks a significant step in fulfilling national responsibilities and strengthening shared security. He also referred to the joint statement issued by NATO leaders during the summit.

Furthermore, Hasani emphasized the importance of NATO’s decision to hold its 2027 Summit in Tirana. He called it a great honor for Albania and strong proof of the country’s strategic role and engagement within the Alliance.

With this move, Albania steps up its presence and influence inside NATO, reinforcing its place among trusted allies.
