“Life Like a Film – Piro Milkani” is the title of a new documentary dedicated to the legendary Albanian director, who passed away in May at the age of 86.

Friends, colleagues, and family gathered at the Central State Film Archive cinema for the premiere. Through Milkani’s own voice, the film traces his artistic journey and personal life, honoring one of the most influential figures in Albanian cinema.

The documentary, produced by Cinemania, was written by Bashkim Hoxha and directed by Rigers Plaka and Marviks Shantoja.

It offers an emotional and human journey through time, memories, and the legacy of a master.

Born in Drenovë, Korçë in 1939, Milkani was among Albania’s first filmmakers. His works — including Victory Over Death, The Happy Couple, and The Lady from the City — became cultural landmarks.

Beyond directing, he was also a dedicated educator, shaping generations of Albanian filmmakers.

His rich filmography includes titles such as: The Colors of Age (1990), Spring Didn’t Come Alone (1988), Come! (1987), On the Edge of Life (1985), The Militant (1984), Fracture (1983), and many more.
