New Production of “Il Trovatore” at the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet

Last night, the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet staged a new production of Giuseppe Verdi’s opera Il Trovatore.
The audience showed strong interest. As a result, all tickets sold out in record time for every performance.
The opera is part of Verdi’s famous trilogy: Rigoletto, Il Trovatore, and La Traviata. Verdi worked intensively on both the music and the libretto, collaborating closely with Cammarano.
Il Trovatore is based on the Spanish drama by Gutiérrez. The story takes place in early 15th-century Spain. It blends love, revenge, and a deep family mystery.
Manrico and Count Di Luna compete for Leonora’s love. Meanwhile, Azucena, Manrico’s gypsy mother, seeks revenge against the Count for her own mother’s death. She mistakenly kidnaps the Count’s brother and raises him as her child. This mistake leads to a tragic ending, where all main characters die and the truth of their blood ties is revealed.
Last night, Eva Golemi, Josif Gjipali, Ankhbayar Enkhbold, Enkeleida Shkoza, Matias Xheli, and Suada Gjergji performed the leading roles. Andrea Solinas conducted the production.
The opera will return to the stage for two more nights, on 12 and 13 December.
