Newborn monument reveals a fresh look for Kosovo’s 18th Independence Anniversary

Each Independence Day, Pristina’s iconic monument, Newborn, appears in a new form, surprising the public.
This year, creator Fisnik Ismaili transformed it again, giving Newborn the appearance of cracks and fractures.
Ismaili explained on social media that for the 18th anniversary, he drew inspiration from kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken objects with gold, making them stronger and more valuable. He shared photos showing only part of the monument, leaving the public curious about the full reveal tomorrow.
Ismaili, founder of Karrota Studio, is also a former Kosovo Liberation Army fighter, activist, and designer of the national football team jersey. He has contributed to many other creative projects.
Traditionally, the NEWBORN monument changes its appearance every year on Independence Day, sending artistic and social messages to the public.
