Odhise Paskali (1903–13 September 1985) is recognized as the founder of Albanian sculpture and a key figure in the country’s art history.

Born in Përmet, he studied art and history in Italy, graduating in 1927. Paskali helped create important art societies and led Albania’s first drawing school in the 1930s.

He became the country’s first professional sculptor, known for monumental works like the Skanderbeg statue in Tirana. During WWII, he shifted focus due to limited commissions but resumed sculpting after liberation, creating statues of national heroes and partisans.

Though he lived much of his life in Italy and Tirana, Paskali stayed deeply connected to Përmet. He made numerous sculptures there honoring local heroes, writers, and freedom fighters.

Paskali also contributed as an art critic and writer. His diaries and notes were published posthumously in 1986 in the book Gjurmë jete (“Traces of Life”).

Despite his talent, he avoided administrative roles and preferred focusing on his art.
