“Open Balkans”, Vucic: By July we will have removed the work permits! Kosovo? I will do my best to avoid a conflict

Albania, Montenegro and Serbia plan to remove work permits by July, to let people and goods circulate freely, as part of the “Open Balkans” initiative.

In a press conference after the meeting with the Prime Minister Edi Rama and the Prime Minister of North Macedonia Dimitra Kovacevski in the framework of the initiative that was held in the municipality of Bardolin in Italy, Vucic emphasized that this will be a very important step for the citizens of the three countries.

“Until July, work permits will be removed, which are cornerstones for the creation of the Open Balkans market and will be of great benefit to citizens. People will find work in Belgrade or Tirana and this will no longer be a problem. This proves that we are talking about the 4 freedoms of Europe”, said Vucic.

Asked about Kosovo, Vucic emphasized that he will do his best to avoid a conflict, as he added that he is cooperating with Prime Minister Edi Rama for this.

“Yes, we do not agree on a number of issues, especially on this one. But I don’t blame Edi Rama for not doing that with me. We can refute each other’s actions but we don’t clash for cooperation. I am proud that Albanians feel safe and quite welcome. It is the same thing when Serbs flee to Albania. My rhetorical question would be, well, what are we going to do? Should we fight more, have more disagreements, make another Ukraine or what? I see there are a lot of people waiting to see a big crash or I don’t know what? What do you want from us? For all Serbian and Albanian citizens, I will do my best to avoid it, even Edi Rama is doing the same”, said Vucic.
