Osmani and Kastrati Inspect Miruša Dam After Flood Risk

Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani visited Malisheva on Wednesday evening. There, Mayor Ekrem Kastrati welcomed her. First, she assessed the impact of recent rainfall. At the same time, she reviewed the challenges facing the municipality.

After the meeting, Osmani and Kastrati went to the Miruša Lake dam. There, they inspected its condition. In addition, they evaluated any potential danger.

Meanwhile, Osmani praised the municipality and emergency teams. She thanked them for managing the situation. Moreover, she expressed full solidarity with citizens and local institutions. She confirmed that there were no casualties. Above all, she stressed that protecting lives remains the top priority.

“Together, we can manage and prevent such situations. Now that we have identified the problems, all levels can act more easily,” Osmani said. Furthermore, she pledged full support from the Presidency.

For his part, Kastrati thanked the president for her visit. Then, he briefed her on the current situation. He explained the measures already taken. At the same time, he outlined possible risks. He said the Emergency Headquarters is active. In addition, he confirmed close coordination with the Emergency Management Agency and the Kosovo Security Force. He added that the municipality has assisted residents in need.

“We continuously monitor the Miruša Lake dam because of possible damage,” Kastrati said. Additionally, he informed the president about the damage reported so far.

Therefore, Kastrati asked for central government support. He requested help to repair damage. Likewise, he called for compensation for affected residents. Finally, he asked for funds to rebuild damaged infrastructure, including the dam and several bridges.

Earlier in the day, Osmani also visited Gjakova. There, she expressed solidarity with residents after recent floods. At the same time, she praised institutions for their response.
