Osmani meets the US congressman

The President of Kosova, Vjosa Osmani received today in a meeting the congressman, Mike Turner, chairman of the Permanent Committee of the US House of Representatives for Intelligence Services.
During the meeting, Osmani considered the relations with the United States as strategic. She thanked Congressman Turner for the support he has given to Kosova over the years in the state building path.
Kosovan President Osmani underscored that the state of Kosova is also a success story of the US too.
“The unwavering commitment of the United States to the cause of Kosova has been indispensable in our journey towards independence and statehood”, said Osmani, according to the Kosovan Presidential Office announcement.
Osmani announced that Kosova’s goal is membership in international organizations such as: NATO, EU, Council of Europe and others.
To this purpose, President Osmani mentioned Kosova’s aspiration for membership first in the Partnership for Peace (PfP), and then in NATO, where the support of the USA is essential.
Osmani also mentioned the fact that the Kosova’s Intelligence Agency has close cooperation with the US intelligence services in addressing common security challenges that may threaten peace and security in Kosova and the region.
Referring to the situation in the north of the country, Osmani emphasized that Kosova has taken meaningful steps towards de-escalating the situation and that it continues to be a constructive party in this process, while emphasizing “Serbia’s obstructions, and the destabilizing actions in the north of Kosova through criminal gangs directed by Belgrade.
