Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani and her husband, Prindon Sadriu, met U.S. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump during their stay in New York.

Osmani said on social media the planned protocol meeting turned into a long and substantive conversation.

She thanked Trump for his interest in America’s role in Kosovo and the region, and for his commitment to peace.

“The friendship and alliance with the United States remain unbreakable,” Osmani wrote. “Kosovo will always stand with democracy, freedom, and partnership with the U.S., because that is where the heart of our freedom beats.”
