Osmani: Mutual recognition with Serbia, the only solution that brings long-term peace and stability to our region

The President of Kosova, Vjosa Osmani, in her speech at the joint conference with her counterpart from Malta, George Vella, after expressing gratitude for Malta’s continuous support for Kosovo, stated that there is no demand from international partners for her country to give up from mutual recognition with Serbia.

“We are very grateful for the unwavering support of Malta, which has never been absent in all stages of Kosova’s state building. The economic relations between Kosova and Malta have great potential to be deepened”, said Osmani.

Furthermore, the president of Kosova emphasized the liberalization of visas, saying that Kosova has met all the criteria and that it is now time for the legalization process.

“More than 4 years have passed since Kosova met all the criteria for the visa liberalization process. The unjust exclusion of Kosova citizens from this process must be put to an end. We hope that the decision will be taken no later than November, during the Czech presidency. And then the decision on the liberalization of visas should come into force according to the practices so far, without defining new technical criteria which would only continue the great injustice towards the citizens of Kosova”, she said.

As for mutual recognition with Serbia, Osmani emphasized that there is no demand from the US, as she said, mutual recognition is the only solution for peace and stability.

“As for the final agreement, the United States of America has never asked the Republic of Kosova for a final agreement without mutual recognition. Also, allow me to emphasize something that has been confirmed by our strategic partners more than once: mutual recognition is the only solution that brings long-term peace and stability to our region”, emphasized Osmani.
