Osmani: Russia Aims to Open a New Front Against the West

Kosovan President Vjosa Osmani warned that Russia is seeking to “open a new front against the West” by destabilizing the Western Balkans.
“Russia and Putin want to open a new front against the West by destabilizing the Western Balkans,” Osmani said in an interview with TVP World.
She stressed that Kosova must work closely with its allies and democratic partners to “halt these destabilizing efforts from Serbia, backed and driven by Russia“.
Osmani’s remarks highlight concerns that Russia may leverage its strong ties with Serbia to exert influence in the region. She expressed hope that the Western Balkans could still integrate into the European Union.
“I believe there is hope for the Western Balkans to eventually join the European Union and NATO. But this requires recognizing Serbia for what it is—a satellite state of Russia, which is deepening military, economic, and political cooperation with Moscow,” Osmani noted.
She further attributed tensions between Serbia and Kosovo to Serbia’s actions, calling Serbia “Putin’s strongest ally in Europe,” and reiterated that Kosovo and other regional nations remain targets of Serbia’s aggression.
