Danish diplomat Peter Sorensen has been confirmed by EU ambassadors as the European Union’s Special Envoy for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue.

Sorensen was selected by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security, Kaja Kallas, to succeed Miroslav Lajcak in this role, as reported by REL.

The final approval from EU foreign ministers is expected on Monday, allowing Sorensen to begin his mandate in early February.

Lajcak’s mandate will conclude on January 31.

Radio Free Europe had previously learned from diplomatic sources within the EU that Sorensen’s nomination had also been submitted for approval to EU member states.”
