Prenkaj: Kosova and Ukraine Not Comparable, Serbia Has Shifted Its Stance

In an interview with Nazarko Podcast on RTSH, diplomat Albert Prenkaj rejected comparisons between Kosova and Ukraine. He said the two cases are fundamentally different and warned that such parallels could damage Kosova’s position.

He recalled the 2013 Brussels Agreement, which aimed to prevent Serbia and Kosova from blocking each other in international organizations. However, he noted that Serbia has since hardened its stance.

“Vucic’s rigid position has stalled Kosova’s progress,” he said, adding that this shift also reflects growing Russian influence in the region.

Prenkaj also referred to past talks in Washington, where a territorial exchange between Kosova and Serbia had been suggested. He called this part of Russia’s broader plan to expand its role in the Balkans.

Moving forward, he said Kosova must show political will and integrate the Serb community. He urged progress on the Brussels agreements to ensure peaceful coexistence.

“Kosova and Albania must work closely to protect security and stability in the region,” he concluded.
