President Bajram Begaj met with Interior Minister Ervin Demo, General Director of the State Police Skënder Hita and acting State Intelligence Service director Elvis Lila on September 24. The Presidency said Begaj discussed current issues with the three officials.

The meetings came after the Special Prosecution Office investigated former State Intelligence Service director Vlora Hyseni. The Special Court for Corruption and Organized Crime ordered house arrest and suspension from public duty for Hyseni following a request from prosecutors.

Prime Minister Edi Rama subsequently dismissed Hyseni from her post. President Begaj immediately approved the decision and Lila took over the service’s leadership on an interim basis.
