President of Kosovo Osmani and Prime Minister Kurti meet with the US Secretary of State Blinken

President of Kosovo Osmani and Prime Minister Kurti had a meeting with the US Secretary of State Blinken.
Ms. Osmani and Mr. Kurti, Secretary Blinken talked about the strong US-Kosovo partnership and the importance of this friendship.
“Kosovo is a staunch partner of the United States and I think, as you all know, there is a long and strong history between us, especially with President Biden, who sends you his warm greetings,” said Mr. Blinken.
After the meeting, in a statement for the Voice of America, President Vjosa Osmani said that she informed Secretary Blinken about the reforms undertaken in Kosovo and the challenges the country is facing, for which, as she said, “the support of the United States of America is neccessary “.
“Once again it was confirmed that the Republic of Kosovo does not have a bigger, more powerful and closer friend than the USA”, said Mrs. Osmani.
For his part, Prime Minister Albin Kurti said that he expressed his gratitude for NATO’s intervention to stop Serbian atrocities in Kosovo, the country that, as he said, “is a success story of a quality democracy that goes together with economic development “.
“In contrast to some other powers around the world, which want to show that democracy is not necessary for economic development, the small state of Kosovo is a great example that economic development and quality democracy go together,” said Mr. Kurti for VOA.
Prime Minister Kurti said that he used the meeting with Secretary Blinken to request more American investments in Kosovo and increased commercial exchanges between the two countries.
President Osmani added that today’s meeting was a guarantee of American engagement in the region in a period when the Russian aggression in Ukraine, as she said, “proved what real democracies are”. Ms. Osmani added that the closest cooperation between Kosovo and the USA is necessary, knowing the tendencies of Russia’s influence in the Balkans, through, as she said, Putin’s satellite, Serbia.
“We discussed in details how to be more vigilant from now on, much more coordinated with the US and our other NATO allies in order to prevent these destabilizing plans that Putin has with his satellites “, Mrs. Osmani said in a question of the Voice of America.
Tomorrow, the President and Prime Minister of Kosovo will participate in the signing ceremony of the agreement for the Compact Program with the Millennium Challenges Corporation, a project worth 236.7 million dollars, which aims to strengthen the energy sector in Kosovo and strengthen the inclusion of women in this field.
