President Osmani Highlights Kosovo–Hungary Ties in Budapest Visit

During her official visit to Hungary, President Vjosa Osmani addressed students and professors at Eötvös Loránd University.
At the beginning of her speech, she outlined Kosovo’s foreign policy priorities. She also highlighted the importance of Kosovo’s relationship with Hungary.
Moreover, Osmani emphasized Kosovo’s commitment to joining the Euro-Atlantic family. She stated that the alliance with the United States, the European Union, and NATO partners strengthens regional stability. Furthermore, it directly contributes to Euro-Atlantic security.
In addition, she praised the role of education in building bridges between nations. She described it as a foundation for lasting cooperation. Osmani expressed gratitude for the support that Kosovar students have received from the university and Hungarian institutions over the years.
Next, she reflected on the historical ties between the two nations. She mentioned the legacy of Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg and Janos Hunyadi. According to her, in the fifteenth century, Albanians and Hungarians stood together to protect European civilization. Their alliance, she noted, was based on shared values—freedom, identity, and dignity.
Today, Osmani added, that legacy continues to inspire. In a changing Europe, it guides us to build new partnerships rooted in a shared vision of peace and unity.
Finally, Osmani pointed to the future. She stated that Kosovo and Hungary have great potential to deepen cooperation. Specifically, she mentioned renewable energy, tourism, technology, and education as key areas. She concluded by saying that sustainable progress relies on investing in youth and creating bridges of intercultural understanding.
