Tirana, October 9 – The Office of the President of the Republic issued a statement following the Constitutional Court’s decision to suspend the part of the decree setting the early mayoral election date in Tirana.

The statement said the Office respects the court’s decision regarding the suspension of the part of Decree No. 350, dated October 1, 2025, that determines the local election date in Tirana Municipality.

Earlier, the Constitutional Court suspended the presidential decree setting early mayoral elections in Tirana, following an appeal filed by the mayor. The court scheduled a public hearing to examine the appeal on October 31, 2025.

The court’s decision applies only to the early election in Tirana. The other five municipalities of Mat, Tepelena, Cerrik, Berat and Vlora will hold elections on November 9, according to the decree.
