Prime Minister Rama’s Personal Exhibition in Paris on June 8th

Prime Minister Edi Rama is set to open a personal exhibition in Paris on June 8th at the Marian Goodman gallery.

This exhibition marks another milestone in Rama’s artistic career, following successful showcases in Athens, Greece in 2023, and Germany in 2018. Additionally, Rama’s contributions have been celebrated in numerous international exhibitions, including prominent events like the São Paulo Biennial, the Pompidou Center in Paris, and the Venice Biennale.

The exhibition promises to be a captivating display of Rama’s artistic prowess, inviting visitors to engage with his thought-provoking creations and delve into the depths of his creative vision.

“Edi Rama (b. 1964) lives and works in Tirana. A former professor of painting at the Academy of Fine Arts and author of several books, he has served as Prime Minister of Albania since 2013. Rama, who was a practicing artist in Paris until he was asked to return to Albania as Minister of Culture in 1998, explains that he initially started making his autonomous drawings, from the stream of consciousness, more from a sense of displacement than a desire to create works of art: ‘I found myself drawing almost all the time at work while interacting with people in my office or on the phone. And I realized I wasn’t drawing myself, but it was my hand.’ Rama gradually understood that his drawings were neither a diversionary activity nor an aesthetic pleasure, but were becoming an increasingly clarifying necessity,” reads the gallery’s page.

Rama’s latest exhibition was in Athens, Greece in 2023.
