The well-known cinematographer Kristaq Dhamo dies at the age of 89. The artist who made the first Albanian feature film, 64 years ago “Tanan” died in the United States of America.

Kristaq Dhamo was born on April 20, 1933 in Fier, Albania. He finished his studies at the Higher Institute of Cinematography in Budapest, Hungary.

He started working at the Film Studio”New Albania”, where the film “Tana” was made in 1958. For many years he was the artistic director at the Film Studio. Dhamo has given valuable contribution in the preparation of young cinematography students, by organizing several professional courses.

In 1979 he was awarded the title “Merited Artist” and in 1987 he was honored with the title “People’s Artist”. At the 11th Albanian Film Festival 2000, he was honored with the career award.
