Radio Television of Kosova presenter breaks down in tears while reporting on Reçak massacre commemoration

TIRANA, January 16 – The presenter at Radio Television of Kosova broke down in tears while covering the commemorative activities marking the Reçak massacre. The coverage included memorial ceremonies honoring the victims, bringing back her personal grief over her father’s killing by Serbian forces on January 15, 1999.

She highlighted that the museum of the massacre in Krushë e Madhe, Rahovec, displays 241 graves, including 64 unidentified. The exhibition also shows photographs, interviews, written documents, and 200 video recordings. “January 15, the day of the Serbian genocide against the civilian population, revives the pain for families who lost their loved ones in the spring of 1999,” she said through tears.

The Reçak massacre remains one of the most tragic events in recent Kosova history. On January 15, 1999, forty-five Kosovan Albanians were killed in the village of Reçak. Serbian police, military, and paramilitary forces carried out the killings. Serbia continues to deny responsibility for the massacre.
