Rama on the BBC: Kosova and Serbia are at the closest point to seal a historical deal

Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama while commenting for the BBC on the tensions in north of Kosova, said that the EU leaders agree that Prime Minister Kurti and Serbian President Vucic should sit at the table.
Supporting US and EU stances, Rama said that Kurti is wrong, as the internationals are not trying to please Serbia, but to take Kosova to the next level.
There is a disturbing situation in the north of Kosova, but I would not emphasize the danger too much. Let’s say that this situation was provoked first by the Serbs, who abandoned the institutions, practically creating a vacuum, and, secondly, by the Kosova authorities, who insisted on placing these mayors in empty buildings, where the majority of the population is mainly Serbian. Just to clarify, the conduct of the elections was a very good thing, to show that no one can take hostage the democratic process in the independent Republic of Kosova, but it was not a good idea to insist that these four mayors to enter the empty buildings under the protection of the police, which led to the intervention of KFOR and the undeserved injury of KFOR soldiers, said Rama.
Saying that he was not there to blame but was just answering the questions, Rama said that “the broader perspective is positive. Serbia and Kosova, thanks to Kurti and Vucic, are very close to closing a historic agreement. I also believe that the fact that the agreement is so close, based on the Franco-German proposal with mutual recognition, has irritated both sides.”
Prime Minister Rama thinks that there is no other way in the world that the agreement will not be closed. The question is when. “We were at a summit of the European Community with all the leaders in Moldova and all of them, especially the French president and the German chancellor, are convinced that Kurti and Vucic should sit down and close the deal”.
Asked to provide an opinion on the statement of Albin Kurti that the West is trying to please Serbia and that the reaction from the US and the United Kingdom has been an excessive pressure on Kosova, Albanian Prime Minister said that he was convinced that the US and EU are completely right and Albin is wrong here, because they are not trying to please Serbia, they are trying to finally take Kosova to another level, that is, to a state that is recognized by everyone, a state that can take a place in the United Nations and in many other institutions, where it not present.
