Agim Doçi Albanian prominent composer and lyricist, passed away at 76.

Doçi is known for his significant contributions to Albanian music. He has written numerous songs that have been performed by well-known Albanian artists and have left a lasting impact on the Albanian music scene. His work often combines traditional Albanian musical elements with contemporary styles, making his compositions widely appreciated both in Albania and among the Albanian diaspora. Doçi’s lyrics often reflect themes of love, patriotism, and social issues, resonating deeply with his audience. 

Agim Doçi was one of the creators of numerous Albanian song lyrics, winning over 50 awards and representing his texts twice in Eurovision. Notably, he collaborated extensively with composer Edmond Zhulali on many festival songs in Albania, including over 100 songs such as “Marshi i UÇK-së” and “A vritet pafajësia”.

Born on May 9, 1948, in Shkodër, Doçi graduated in Engineering but had a rare passion for literature. He worked as an engineer in Industrial Assemblies, participating in many significant projects like cement factories, metallurgy, Laç superphosphate, Poligrafik Tirana, and more.

By the late ’80s, he was working at the “Misto Mame” Wood Combine as chief engineer for energy. In 1989, he was sentenced to work three shifts in a paperboard factory. Doçi was also involved in the December 1990 movements.

Agim Doçi created over 3,000 song lyrics performed at various Albanian festivals. He published several poetry books such as “Hajde dru me pre,” “Rrëzuar mbi vetminë,” and “Rituali i kryqëzimit.”

For his contributions, he was honored by President of the Republic with the title “Grand Master”.
