Korça Regional Directorate of Cultural Heritage is carrying out maintenance works for the restoration of the Museum House of Kostandin Kristoforidi, in the Castle neighborhood in Elbasan.

This intervention will eliminate the danger that threatens this facility and will make to be visited again.

The roof showed problems, as well as the presence of dampness in the interior of the building.

At this stage of the intervention by the maintenance team of Korça Regional Directorate of Cultural Heritage, the intervention was carried out on the entire surface of the roof. The restoration of the damaged wooden floor and the cleaning of the territory’s vegetation have been also completed.

Korça Regional Directorate of Cultural Heritage informs that the work continues for the treatment of the wooden material with anti-moth and linseed oil, the restoration of the gate to the yard and the reinforcement of the building’s stairs.

Kostandin Kristoforidhi was born in this house in 1827. He was an Albanian translator and scholar. He is mostly known for having translated the New Testament into Albanian for the first time in the Gheg Albanian dialect in 1872. He also provided a translation in Tosk Albanian in 1879.
