Roza Xhuxha Anagnosti, one of Albania’s stage and film icons, celebrates her 82nd birthday today.

Roza Xhuxha was born on November 27, 1943. Early on, she grew familiar with the spotlight. Her stage journey began at the “Pioneer House” in Shkodër. There, under the guidance of musicians Tonin Harapi and Prenk Jakova, she developed her artistic talents.

After her first roles at the “Migjeni” Theater, she debuted in film in 1963. She played a teacher in Detyrë e posaçme (“Special Duty”). Later, during the filming of Toka jonë (“Our Land”) by director Hysen Hakani, she played the character File. There, she met Dhimitër Anagnosti, the film’s cameraman, and they fell in love through the lens.

Roza and Dhimitër Anagnosti became one of the most dedicated couples in the productions of Kinostudio “Shqipëria e Re”.

Some of Roza Anagnosti’s most acclaimed roles include Fije që priten (“Cut Threads”), which won the 1977 Festival Medallion. She also starred in Mësonjëtorja (“The Schoolroom”), earning the Best Actress Award and the Festival Cup in 1981.
