Scientific research, Institute of History cooperation agreement with ISKK

The Institute of History and the Institute of Studies on Crimes and Consequences of Communism (ISKK) signed an agreement, which is directed towards fostering collaborative research and scientific endeavors concentrated on the history spanning the years 1945 to 1990. The partnership aims to facilitate joint efforts in exploring and understanding this particular historical period through scholarly activities and research initiatives.
The Institute of History highlights that there exist only a limited number of institutions dedicated to research activities in Tirana.
Hence, concerning the historical period following the Second World War up until the 1990s, this institute’s research focus involves a collaborative agreement with the ISKK. ISKK was established by a specific law enacted by the parliament.
Over time, these two institutions have collaborated through conferences, various activities, and publications. Recently, they have finalized plans to draft a long-term cooperation agreement that emphasizes scientific research and access to archives as key focal points.
The agreement signed by the current heads of both institutes includes provisions for organizing and executing scientific activities, conferences, symposia, and debate forums aligned with the core focus areas of the respective institutes.
The agreement also entails collaborative scientific projects and diverse publications such as monographs, document volumes, and multi-author studies. Additionally, it includes cooperation with historians, researchers, Albanian and international institutions dedicated to history and memory studies. The accord facilitates open access exchanges of archival materials and scientific literature, as well as the procurement of archival documents from various Albanian and foreign archives, among other provisions.
The Institute of History has also entered into comparable agreements with various institutions, including Institute of History in Kosovo, Albanian Telegraphic Agency (ATSH), Albanian Armed Forces Central Archive (AQFA), National Book and Reading Center (KKLL), AMPEPJ, and several academic institutions in Great Britain, Italy, Germany, Austria, Romania, and other countries.
