Serbian media “Danas”: Greece close to recognizing Kosovo as an independent state

5 EU countries, Greece, Spain, Cyprus, Slovakia and Romania, have not yet recognized the independence of Kosovo, but it seems that the attitude of one of these countries will change. Serbian media “Danas” says that Greece is close to recognizing Kosovo’s independence.
“Greece is close to recognizing Kosovo, because it is currently treating Kosovo in everything as an independent state and it is only a matter of time when it will do this officially. Until now, Greece has not recognized Kosovo due to the interests of that country and the regional dynamics of relations, but the main Balkan problem that Greece had, the dispute with North Macedonia, has been resolved. They have no other obstacle to the issue of independence except Cyprus,” sources told Serbian media.
Germany and France have a 13-point plan for dialogue between Belgrade and Prishtina and the final normalization of relations based on mutual recognition foresees that all five remaining EU countries recognize Kosovo’s independence.
The plan envisages a new framework for dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, which would require both sides to reach a final formal recognition agreement within the next 10 years, which would be a prerequisite for both countries’ EU membership.
