Arbjan Mazniku, the Minister of State for Local Government, emphasized the transformative potential of strategic investments in Elbasan, positioning the city as a future economic development hub. Speaking at a discussion with local businesses on the “Fiscal Peace,” Mazniku highlighted the success of the Elbasan economic zone, which currently hosts 11 companies employing approximately 200 people. This zone serves as a model of successful collaboration between the public and private sectors, driving foreign investment and job creation.

Mazniku also pointed to key infrastructure projects underway in Elbasan, such as the Lekaj-Elbasan road, the Elbasan bypass, and the Krasta-Qafë Thana road, as well as a new railway project. These developments are set to enhance Elbasan’s role as a central economic hub.

The Metalurgical Zone, with its significant production capacity, is expected to experience substantial growth over the next 5-6 years, with business activity in both the Economic and Metallurgical Zones expected to double. This growth will have a major impact on local employment and the national economy. Mazniku noted that while Elbasan contributes 7% to the country’s GDP, 5% of national production comes from its Economic and Metallurgical Zones, underscoring their importance to Albania’s broader economic landscape.
