“Sunny Hill Festival” is being talked about everywhere. The return is the next day, August 4, in Pristina.

The festival will last 4 days until August 7 with the participation of some of the most famous names in world music, such as J Balvin, Mahmood, Diplo, Skepta, etc. “Sunny Hill” returns after a two-year absence due to the pandemic, as two editions have been held so far, in 2018 and 2019.

– Who organizes it and what is the purpose of the Festival?

Sunny Hill is a festival organized by Dua Lipa and her father, Dukagjin Lipa. The income earned from the sold tickets goes to the “Sunny Hill Foundation”, the foundation that was founded about 5 years ago. Its opening ceremony was organized through the concert that Dua held in Pristina on August 9, when he promised that all the proceeds would go to charity. In August 2018, Sunny Hill Foundation donated 100,000 euros to charities, cultural events and music schools in Kosovo. Last year, at the press conference before the festival, Dua Lipa said that 150,000 euros will be donated to build Sunny Hill Academy – a new center of art and innovation.

-Why does it have this name?

Dua’s parents, Dukagjini and Anesa, grew up in the “Kodra e Dielli” neighborhood in Pristina, which translates to “Sunny Hill” in English. Dua also tattooed this name. “Just the neighborhood where my parents grew up in Kosovo. ‘Sunny Hill’ became the name of our foundation and then the name of our festival. He has a special meaning for me”, said Dua.

– When and where was it held?

The first edition of the festival took place on August 10 to 12, 2018 in the “Gërmia National Park” in Pristina. Dua led the bill of singers and her father also performed with his band, ODA.

The second edition of the ‘Sunny Hill Festival’ was held on August 2, 3 and 4, 2019 also in the ‘Gërmia Park’. Scheduled to take place annually, the 2020 edition was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year, “Sunny Hill Festival” will be held in Tirana for the first time.
