Survey in Kosovo: Albania and America, the most important political and economic partners

Albania and the United States of America are seen as the two most important political and economic partners in the eyes of Kosovars. This is shown by a nationwide survey in Kosova by the Center for Perceptions in Research of the International Republican Institute (IRI) published on Wednesday.

About 93% of respondents see Albania and America as the most important political partners of Kosova, followed by Germany with 92% and Turkey with 84%.

At almost the same level, the United States (93%) and Albania (92%) are also seen as the most important economic partners. The list continues with the European Union (92%), Turkey (88%) and North Macedonia (70%).

Kosovars have the most positive opinions about Albania (86%), America (90%), Great Britain (84%), Germany (88%) and the European Union (77%).

The majority of respondents, around 93%, think that the foreign policy should be pro-Western and pro-European Union. This opinion is increasing compared to September 2021, when 66% of respondents had the same opinion about the foreign policy line.

If a referendum were held today on NATO membership, 95% of citizens would vote “for”.

To the same extent, 95% would vote “for” also for membership in the European Union.

The survey was conducted during the months of February and March of this year, where 1,200 residents were surveyed in various municipalities of Kosova, including those of Serbian ethnicity. The margin of error for the full sample in the middle of the range does not exceed ±3.0 points at the 95 percent confidence level.
