The Chairman of the Defense Committee in the Bundestag, Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, said in an interview with DW News that the current dispute between Kosovo and Serbia over the issue of license plates and travel documents should be resolved in agreement between the two parties.

“We have the right diplomats there, we have the EU there, and it is our duty to bring the two parties in conflict to a joint table.”

The German government had expressed concern about the situation in Kosovo since the beginning of the week. The German Minister of Defense, Christine Lambrecht, said that if necessary, KFOR will intervene to establish peace. In June, the German parliament extended the mandate of participation within the KFOR forces by one year. Currently, only 65 German soldiers are stationed in Kosovo, but in case of need, the contingent can go up to 400.
