Tensions in Kosovo/ KFOR appeals for dialogue between the parties: Avoid actions that could escalate the situation

The NATO mission in Kosovo, KFOR, has expressed support for dialogue between all parties in order to alleviate tensions in the north of Kosovo. The commander of the NATO peacekeeping forces in Kosovo (KFOR), Angelo Michele Ristuccia, has stated that the solution comes only through dialogue.
“It is important that all involved avoid any rhetoric or actions that could cause tensions and escalate the situation. Solutions must be sought through dialogue,” said Ristuccia.
Ristuccia’s reaction comes after the statement of the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, who said that the time given to KFOR for the removal of the barricades was ending.
“The institutions of Kosovo will not talk and cooperate with criminals, but will arrest them. Setting up barricades on the road will not be accepted. This necessary time and space has been given to KFOR and one thing must be understood, that the principle of free movement cannot be exercised, with barricades on the road that prevent it”, said Kurti.
