Tensions with Serbia, Kurti: The agreement must be implemented unconditionally, Rutte and Bettel: Dialogue and de-escalation of the situation

The Prime Minister of Kosova, Albin Kurti, in his speech at the joint conference with his two counterparts from the Netherlands and Luxembourg, Mark Rutte and Xavier Bettel, said that Kosova is committed to good neighborly relations, while emphasizing that strict implementation is needed without delay and without conditions of the basic agreement of February 27 and the implementation annex of March 17.
“Regarding the dialogue for the normalization of relations with Serbia, I emphasized that Kosova is committed to good neighborly relations. We want a European solution and for this we have the basic agreement of February 27 and the implementation annex of March 17, for which we want to be implemented in all the details, without delays and without conditions,” said Kurti.
While the Prime Minister of the Netherlands and that of Luxembourg laid emphasis on regional stability and the achievement of dialogue between Serbia and Kosovo, through the EU mediation
“The Netherlands and Luxembourg were among the first to recognize Kosova’s independence. Our involvement with Kosova and the Western Balkans is closer than ever. We try to strengthen and expand this commitment at the bilateral level.
Russian aggression against Ukraine has made this more important than ever before. Regional stability is an important process. We expressed our concerns about the increase in tensions with Serbia. We strive towards dialogue and de-escalation of the situation. I hope that this is important for the peace and prosperity of the integration in the EU,” he said.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Bettel stated that any possibility of further crises between the two countries should be removed, and direct dialogue between Prishtina and Belgrade is needed.
“Usually you have a lot of friends when you are successful but not so much when you are struggling and need protection. You are not the biggest country, working with others and finding people interested in solutions is very important.
We are not here to judge, but to listen. Yesterday we were in Belgrade, today we are here. It was important to know that it is a guide from the EU. You know what tensions bring.
We must remove any possibility of crises. We need a direct dialogue with both countries,” concluded Prime Minister Bettel.
