Terrorist attack in Banjska/ MFA: Justice Must Be Served Without Delays and Excuses

The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs stated that justice must be served without delays and excuses for the killing of Kosovo Police Sergeant Afrim Bunjaku, who was murdered a year ago during a terrorist attack by an armed Serbian group in Banjska.
“Honoring the sacrifice of Afrim Bunjaku, Albania supports Kosovo in its efforts and achievements to establish the rule of law across its entire territory. It is unacceptable that those responsible for this crime remain at large,” reads the post of MFA in a social media.
The MFA also underlines that “Albania welcomes the decision of the Kosovo Prosecutor’s Office to file charges against those suspected of organizing and carrying out this brutal attack. Accountability is a key element in preventing escalations and consolidating peace throughout the region.”
On September 24, 2023, a group of armed Serbs attacked Kosovo Police in the village of Zveçan, killing Sergeant Afrim Bunjaku.
According to the indictment, the terrorist group aimed to sever the northern part of Kosovo’s territory through the use of heavy weapons, with the intent of annexing it to Serbia.
The group, consisting of 45 individuals, is charged with “serious offenses against the constitutional order and security of the Republic of Kosovo.”
During the operation conducted by the police following the attack in Banjska, mines, shells, explosives, weapons, bulletproof vests, cameras, military equipment, drones, night vision binoculars, chainsaws, masks, topographic maps, and other items were found and confiscated.
