The 17th International Chamber Music Festival! A month of concerts with 58 artists at the Durrës Archaeological Museum

The 17th edition of the International Chamber Music Festival has reached the halfway point of its journey. Since June 28 in the premises of the National Archaeological Museum of Durrës, classical music lovers have attended five concerts, while the same number of others will take place until July 27, the day when the Festival will close its doors for this year.
Instrumentalists are presented with a small Duo, Trio and Quartet formations, while a choral octet was not missing. Violinist Nevila Kalaja, leader of this annual event, is satisfied with the progress of the Festival.
“There is an increase in the artistic level, while the participating ensembles have a rich concert history” says Nevila Kalaja.
According to her, these elements lead to the realization of the objective for a 2-month format throughout the summer season and with certified groups. 58 instrumentalists and choirs from Italy, Greece, Germany, Austria, Slovenia and Albania take part in the 10 concerts of this edition.
At this year’s Festival, most of the artists are coming for the first time, while the permanent instrumentalists Nevila Kalaja, Merita Rexha and those of the “Wiener Kammersymphonie Quintet” ensemble are also present. The latter have been part of the cooperation project with students for 3 years. Even in this edition, they will perform together, and of course before the concert, masterclass sessions of students with these instrumentalists are also scheduled,” adds the organizer Kalaja.
The main hall of the National Archaeological Museum in Durrës has been hosting the Festival’s concerts for many years, while many spectators are not absent to follow the news of the next edition. Nevila Kalaja believes that this is the most beautiful solution for this activity, as the satisfaction of the concert participants is also evident.
The organizers are satisfied with the support of the Ministry of Culture and the Municipality, as well as that of the Embassies and Institutes of Austria, Italy, Slovenia and Greece. This evening the Festival will continue with the concert of the “Lanzini” Trio, while on July 23 the artists will perform at the tourist spot of “Cape Rodoni.
