The Song Festival in RTSH started its journey in 1962 in the hall of the High Institute of Arts and until 1971 it was first broadcast only on the airwaves of Radio Tirana, so, during those years, it was called The Radio Song Festival. It was the 10th edition of this show that would be broadcast for the first time on the screen of Albanian Television too.

Starting from this moment, it would be known by everyone as the Song Festival on the RTSH. The year 1981 is thought to be the culminating moment when the color broadcast of the Song Festival took place on the RTSH for the first time. Directors, composers, singers, poets, conductors, instrumentalists and artists have over the years elevated this event of Albanian music to a pedestal.

Albania participated for the first time in “Eurovision” in 2004 with the singer Anjeza Shahini who was the winner of the 42nd Song Festival at RTSH. The representation of our country in “Eurosong Fest” has become a tradition and a popular music event in Albania.

Words and music is the theme of the 62nd edition of the Festival, placing special emphasis on the quality of the songs not only as a melodic line and also on the lyrics that transmit the melodic line.
