The anniversary of the Normalja (high pedagogical school) of Elbasan, the institution that laid the foundations of Albanian knowledge and scientific thought

On December 1, 1909, the Normalja of Elbasan was opened.
The decision to open an institution that would prepare the class of teachers, who would convey the Albanian language throughout the world, was taken by the Congress of Elbasan.
The first director of Normalja was the signatory of the Declaration of Independence on 1912, Luigj Gurakuqi. In the benches of this school set the most prominent figures of culture and science in Albania of the time, such as Aleksandër Xhuvani, Simon Shuteriqi, Salih Ceka, etc.
Normalja was the crowning of the efforts of the patriots, of the Albanian clubs in the country and abroad, who made the necessary preparations to provide the tools and the pedagogical framework for the beginning of the education of generations of new teachers.
The General Directorate of Archives brings archive photos. The photo shows the building and the students of the Normalja of Elbasan.
