The Balkan Association of Economic Universities founded in Sofia

The Balkan Association of Economic Universities was founded at the Higher School of Insurance and Finance in Bulgaria. The association unites universities from Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Turkey, Albania, Montenegro and Kosovo.
“I am extremely happy that today we are opening an association that unites economic universities from the Balkan region. I believe that the united efforts to create a stable environment for higher education, scientific and academic exchange will contribute to the economic development of our region and in particular to higher education in the field of economics”, said school rector Boris Velchev.
Among the main goals of the Balkan Association will be the alignment of economic programs to facilitate the mutual recognition of degrees and training, the mobility of students, teachers and administration within the Erasmus Program and other mobility programs.
The association will create the foundations for the introduction of joint bachelor and master programs.
Boris Velchev, rector of the Higher School of Insurance and Finance, was elected Chairman of the Management Board of the Balkan Association.
The association is open to the admission of universities from all Balkan countries.
As one of the first activities, the Balkan Association of Economic Universities will hold an international conference entitled “Economy of the Future”, which will take place in Sofia from April 19 to 21, 2023.
