The British Prime Minister: Concerned about the situation in the north of Kosova, Kurti and Vucic should reduce tensions

The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Rishi Sunak has stated in the British Parliament that the Prime Minister of Kosova, Albin Kurti, and the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, must de-escalate the situation in the north of Kosova.

Asked by the British MP, Alicia Kearns, whether he will commit to the extension of KFOR’s mandate in Kosova when asked by MP Alicia Kearns, whether KFOR’s mandate should be extended to investigate the issue of illegal weapons, which, according to Kearns, are being smuggled from Serbia through churches, Sunak noted that he condemns the unprovoked attacks of Serbian protesters against KFOR forces, while requesting that the prime minister of Kosova, Albin Kurti, and the Serbian president, Aleksandar Vucic, reduce tensions and prevent violence.

“We are particularly concerned, I am particularly concerned about the situation in the north of Kosova, which you know and we strongly condemn the unprovoked attacks by protesters against KFOR personnel. The Foreign Secretary has already told the Prime Minister of Kosova and Serbia that the leaders in Belgrade and Prishtina have a responsibility to reduce the tension and prevent further violence,” said Rishi Sunak.

Sunak also explained that the parties should return to the dialogue mediated by the European Union.

“Our view is that we need to find a way back to dialogue facilitated by the EU,” the British Prime Minister said.
