The competition for the construction of the new national theater will be opened soon. The new constructed theatre will be 9 times bigger than the old building.

Mayor Erion Veliaj stated  during a media brief that the new parliament will approve the normative act for financing the new theater building that paves the way and the construction of the new house of the artists.

The mayor said that the new theater will also have a dedicated museum space for the nostalgia part.

“We have a part that is dedicated only to the part of nostalgia. So exhibitors, models, clothing, props; so we will have about 1000 square meters, as was the old theater, only the museum space to the new theater. I do not want to do and the architect and the urban planner and the curator and the director of the museum. I am the mayor, I do the infrastructure. It will be taken by the Ministry of Culture and then for all the nostalgia there can be thematic exhibitions. It could be an exhibition or a museum piece 1 month for Kadri Rroshi and 1 month for Agim Qirjaqi and so on. This is their decision. I know we will have a theater that no longer needs to go with blankets in winter and towels in summer, not even a half pub with bingo and sawdust.
