“The EU needs the Western Balkans”, Rama on the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue: It will not be resolved today with a magic wand

Prime Minister Edi Rama calls the holding of the EU-Western Balkans Summit in Tirana an extraordinary event. According to Rama, the Summit is a strong signal of awareness that the European Union needs the Western Balkans, as much as the Region needs the Union.

“For us this is extraordinary, something that no one would have imagined happening. It is a strong signal of the awareness that the EU needs the Western Balkans, as much as the Western Balkans need the EU. This is very important. By the way, until yesterday we had weather like in the EU, but we couldn’t welcome you with that weather, and we brought you the sun. I hope you appreciate it”, said Rama.

Asked by the media about the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, if it will be an issue that will be discussed at the Summit, Rama said that the EU does not have the magic wand to resolve this conflict today. According to the head of the government, this issue will require its own time to find a solution.

“It is a question for Serbia and Kosovo, if it would be resolved today, I would like it to be so, for the EU to have this kind of magic. But it is not so. It is difficult, it will take its own time. The Western Balkans have never been better in their history and the Albanians, especially in Albania, Kosovo, have never been better in their history. There is a very big difference that here it is rock and roll, in Brussels it is only a symphony. It’s less boring than Brussels. You saw yourself that we were happy”, said Rama.
